Goals
Our goals at Meridian Youth Treatment Center are to:
- Empower young people to make changes in behavior in order to live a healthier lifestyle.
- Encourage young people to become an active partner in creating their own individual support plans.
- Support young people in gaining a sense of belonging, competence, and responsibility.
- Help young people learn the important role that support plays in their recovery from mental illness or substance abuse and learn how to give and receive support.
- Assist young people in recognizing and understanding the existence of self-defeating behaviors, mental health issues and the impact he or she has on family and friends.
- Provide young people with tools that they can rely on when managing symptoms or struggling with relapse.
- Encourage and motivate young people to achieve and maintain abstinence from drugs and alcohol.
- Increase young people's understanding of the subtle cognitive, emotional, behavioral, interpersonal and social aspects of the relapse process.
- Offer family support and help in understanding the crucial role the family plays in supporting your recovery.
- Enhance family functioning, parental effectiveness, and commitment to the recovery process.
- Provide parental support and skill building.
- Promote new forms of healthy emotional and behavioral expression.
- Assist young people in discovering their strengths and to use those strengths to overcome challenges.
- Provide young people with renewed hope, optimism, and purpose in life.
